Pudding
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
Blend milk, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
Layer sliced bread in baking dish. Pour half the milk mixture over bread, let soak.
Pour remaining milk mixture over bread, pressing down gently.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until set and golden brown. Let cool slightly.
Caramel Sauce
Melt sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat until light amber.
Carefully add water, stirring constantly.
Simmer until desired consistency. Let cool slightly.
Serving
Pierce top of pudding with a fork.
Pour caramel sauce over pudding.
Let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm or cold with whipped cream or ice cream (optional).
