Ingredients:

1 pound fresh capelin (cleaned and gutted)
1 cup white vinegar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 bay leaf
2 cloves garlic, smashed
1 small onion, thinly sliced
Fresh dill (optional)
